We are seeking a clinical psychologist to conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and provide psychotherapy in a private practice setting. The practice offers these services to children, adolescents, university students, and adults. The position is a supportive pathway for those looking to grow into full-time private practice. It begins with one day a week with room to grow to a full time position as caseload expands.

    • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments that integrate cognitive, neuropsychological, and personality measures 

    • Provide clear, insightful, and humanistic written reports. 

    • Conduct feedback sessions with patients and relevant collaterals. 

    • Provide long-term psychodynamic psychotherapy at weekly (or higher) frequency.  

    • Participate in consultation with clinicians in the practice 

    • Support practice operations by collaborating in practice projects and identifying opportunities for improving patient and clinician experience. 

    • Engage in marketing to colleagues and key stakeholders to support practice marketing efforts and referrals aligned with practice scope and clinician interest.

    • Available for in-person clinical services in Oakland, CA

    • At least one year of assessment experience, conducting the full assessment process (interview, administration, report, and feedback), at the pre-doctoral internship level or above. 

    • At least two years of psychodynamic / psychoanalytic psychotherapy experience at the pre-doctoral internship level or above including supervision with a psychodynamic psychotherapist. 

    • Competency administering, scoring, and interpreting the Rorschach using the R-PAS system. 

    • Proficiency in common cognitive, executive functioning, academic / learning, and personality assessment measures in assessments.

    • Core coursework, or equivalent training / independent study, of family systems theory, child and adolescent development, child psychotherapy, 

    • Curiosity, creativity, and commitment to continued learning and development

    • Approach to therapy and assessment incorporates cultural considerations, unconscious processes, relational and systemic dynamics, and depth psychological work.

    • Licensed in California (or licensed by 1 March 2026)

    • Available for in-person clinical services in Oakland, CA

    • Mentorship focused on transition to private practice, development and communication of clinical frame, clarification of clinical identity and preferred work, and identifying opportunities for ongoing training and growth. 

    • Opportunity for mentorship and support with professional presentation and writing including identifying potential opportunities, pitching / proposals, and developing content and presentational style.

    • Development of a professional network through introductions to colleagues, key stakeholders, and potential referral sources. 

    • Practice software suite (MS office, Google Workspace, Simple Practice, website). 

    • Assessment materials (rating measures and assessment kits / protocols). 

    • Office space (furnished for assessment, psychotherapy, and play therapy) in the Rockridge neighborhood. 

    • Operational support for administrative tasks (patient onboarding, chart review, distributing releases and rating measures, data tables for assessment results, etc.).
